Periodontic Treatments

We treat a wide range of more severe and specialist conditions that require surgical intervention, some of which are listed:-

Periodontal plastic surgery:
Periodontal procedures aimed at stopping further dental problems associated with gum recession, and to improving the esthetics of your gum line.

Surgical crown lengthening:
Periodontal procedures that lay the groundwork for restorative and cosmetic dentistry and/or to improve the health and esthetics of your smile.

Repair of gingival recessions:
Exposed tooth roots are the result of gum recession. Soft tissue grafts can be used to cover roots or develop gum tissue which is lost due to excessive gingival recession.

Frenectomy:
A procedure often needed to remove a restraining fold of mucous membrane connecting the inside of the lip to the gum. This procedure is often necessary to facilitate the closure of a gap between front teeth.

Root resection and/or hemi-section:
An outdated procedure still performed, but nowadays a better result can be achieved by the use of dental implants.

Exposure of impacted canine teeth:
When eye-teeth have not erupted they can often be helped to erupt using specialised orthodontic techniques. Periodontists are exceptionally good at exposing these teeth surgically and placing attachments on the teeth that are then used by orthodontists to bring the teeth into their natural positions.

Guided Tissue Regeneration:
These procedures can repair some of the damage that has been done by regenerating lost bone and tissue and provide stability for function and esthetics.
